Sandra Gering Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of sculpture and photographs by Erin O'Keefe from 8 January through 7 February 2004.

O’Keefe’s wall-mounted sculptures are shallow boxes with frosted glass facades. The palette of these pieces is lush and feminine, in opposition to the rigid geometry of the boxes. The frosted glass keeps the richly colored spaces within the boxes hovering at an indeterminate distance from the viewer's eye - Dance of the Seven Veils in a white box.

The vibrant colors and spatial ambiguity present in the sculptures also characterize O'Keefe's photographs. She uses light - both projected and ambient - color, and focus to create images that are mysterious and beautiful: impossible stage sets, confounding in scale and space.
