Sandra Gering Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Vincent Szarek from 30 March through 27 April 2002.

In his fiberglass wall reliefs, Vincent Szarek exploits the flashy, fetishistic sensuality of custom car bodies, while at the same time referencing the understatement of minimalism. Szarek has created a vocabulary of curvaceous forms and saturated, glittering colors that differ from minimalism in terms of an emphasis on the "custom" as opposed to the "serial". This customization results from a complex process that involves precise computer-based design and hands-on fabrication and finishing.

This is Vincent Szarek's second exhibition at Sandra Gering Gallery. In 2001, his work was included in Geometry & Gesture, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Salzburg, Austria; and Selections from the Altoids Collection, New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, among other exhibitions.
