Sandra Gering Gallery is pleased to exhibit new work by Vincent Szarek in the project room from 22 February through 24 March 2001.

Vincent Szarek’s works defy categorization as either paintings or sculptures. His wall-hung, curvaceous fiberglass panels sprayed to a high gloss with automotive paint have the restraint of minimalism and the sensuous appeal of a sports car. The shape, scale, jointed construction, and finish give the works a quality that verges on anthropomorphism. Ironically, all traces of the artist’s hand are erased through Szarek’s labor intensive, hands-on process.

Vincent Szarek lives and works in Brooklyn. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design in 1995.
