Sandra Gering Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Erin O'Keefe from 25 March - 24 April 1999. O'Keefe's sculptures are made from painted plywood, sandblasted plexiglass, and mirror. In each piece, a plane of glass is used to obscure or reveal the spaces behind it. Mirrors reflect and multiply light as as well as producing virtual spaces within the plywood enclosures. Color is used to establish an emotional climate, and as a visual device to reinforce the particular spatial ambiguities in each piece.

Erin O'Keefe lives and works in New York City. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Cornell University in 1984, and a Masters Degree in Architecture from Columbia University in 1988. She is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the New York Institute of Technology. In 1998 Erin O'Keefe had her first solo exhibition at Sandra Gering Gallery in the project room. O'Keefe was also inclduded in a group show title "Bathroom" at the Thomas Healy Gallery, NY, summer 1998.
